Well, here we are, June 18th. School has wrapped up for the students and they’re officially on summer break. It feels like with everything going on we just kind of limped our way into summer and I know for many of the students, especially the seniors, they’re mourning the things they’ve missed out on. The good news is that, with everything going on, God is still in control and has amazing things in store for each of us. I had the privilege of recording a devotional for the church touching on the ways we deal with transition. I chose this topic specifically thinking about the graduating seniors, but I think it’s applicable for each of us. Here it is if you’d like to watch it.
For studentLife we’re continuing to evaluate what our summer will look like in light of restrictions easing and the ability to gather together on a limited basis. With that in mind, we’re excited to announce our first in person event of the summer! Next Thursday, the 25th, from 2:30-3:30 PM on the back lawn of the Mount Pleasant Campus, we’ll be playing wiffle ball, 9 square, and having some ice cream sandwiches. We’d love for you to be involved.
One of the things that’s changing as we see things opening up and the weather getting more and more pleasant, is that attendance in our weekly Zoom meetings is declining. Because of this, and with the goal of hosting more in person gatherings in the future, we’re making the move to cancel our weekly middle and high school Zoom meetings, with the intention of connecting at different times, ideally in person. The Minecraft Realm is still up and running and I anticipate it staying up for the future, if you’d like to be a part of that, please let me know.
Finally, as we move into Summer we wanted to think of a way to encourage our students in their faith and challenge them to grow spiritually. With that goal in mind, we’ll be posting weekly devotional videos on Monday for the remainder of the summer. Make sure to follow us on social media to see those!
We’re so thankful to each of you for supporting the ministry of studentLife and the church as whole. We know that this hasn’t been an easy time and our desire is to care for you and encourage you. If you need anything, if we can come alongside you in any way, please let us know. Blessings!
