studentLife Blog: God is _______. - Week 5

God is All-Loving.

One thing that has always struck a chord with me is that God was all-loving. Can you imagine loving every single person that walked into your life? I most certainly can't. It is human nature to hold grudges, be petty, and want revenge. But Jesus did none of that. He never held grudges, he forgave and loved everyone he came across. Even the people who had him killed.

This topic is pretty important to me, because I am someone who definitely has struggled letting go of grudges. For example, there is a guy in my 7th grade homeroom (I know his name but I'm not going to put it here) who I loaned a dollar to and he still hasn't paid me back. I'm not mad about it, I just remember. Another time, in 4th grade, a guy who was in 6th grade called me a little girl because I beat him in gaga ball. Looking back, it was a lame insult, but I was so mad at the time that I still remember his face to this day. So you get that for me, it's hard to fathom loving EVERYONE.

Jesus did though. He sat with the sinners, He hung around the weak and sick, and He spoke with the poor. We as a society tend to shun the aforementioned people. If we have any chance of living like He did, love is the first step. I know that sounds kind of corny but it’s true. And not only all that, but he STILL loves us even after all we do. You could commit all sorts of terrible crimes (not recommended) and God would still love you the same. In Isaiah 54:10, He says “Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,”.

We, as Christians, all know that one song, “Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so…”. If you say you didn't just sing it in your head, you're lying. The words, however, are still very relevant to us all. God loves all, including you. What you do with that love is up to you. But today I hope you pass it on to someone else who needs it. Reach out to a friend who might be struggling. Let go of a grudge. Blast worship music from your car with the windows down. Forgive someone. Share the love that God gave to you.
